Bento box: Froggy faces

It's Kermit The Frog! Or as my friend said when I asked him what he thought I had made this time, 'oh, that's obvious, it's Kermit The Toad'.

It's like that time when my other friend was reading the paper and asked 'what's a Wayne Rooney?'.

I love my friends :D

I would also like to thank everyone who's wished my luck with the internship - I'm halfway through! Hurrah, I made it! I've already started to dream about all the things I can buy after I finish (hello, Chanel bag...), but first I need to get the job offer. I want the job offer so bad!!

But I also want a new cake pan. Hm... I think it's time to prioritise...

Anyhow, this box was sent to me from CasaBento, where I choose the Urura Cherry Bento Box, because it was cute and the biggest one I could find. Yet again, really surprised at the quality (yet again not just saying that!) and it's got three compartments to put more food, fruit, cutlery etc. in:

You can see that the one at the back, can stack on top to expand the box, or stack in the other way to make the box smaller (height wise). They're all really shiny too.

If you haven't checked out their website yet, then you should. It's been redone and it's even shiner than the box :)

Now, onto the bento! The frogs I tried to make from mushed peas and spinach, but it didn't stain green as well as I hoped. It's more like a scaly frog - but that's fine, right?

Also, for some crazy reason I didn't want the pea skins in there because I thought they would look ugly. So I went and de-skined a whole bowl of peas. It took FOREVER.

But anyway, the steps are:
1) Get a bowl of frozen peas.
2) Microwave them for about 4 minutes.
3) De-skin them if you want. I did this whilst listening to Glee, but you don't have to :)
4) MUSH THE PEAS BEFORE YOU MIX THEM WITH THE RICE. Otherwise the rice goes mushy like it did in the last photo :(
5) Do same with wilted spinach if you like.

1) Get an apple and cut a square shape from it, not too fat or bulky.
2) Score a grid on it.
3) Pop out random squares, then pop into your bento box!

Et voila, we have it, froggy facey fabulousness!

(I'm going to bring this into work tomorrow and see what the other bankers say. Tehee.)

p.s. I got the 'Cute Little Chef Award' from Kymberlee at Free Spirit Eater a while back, and I just wanted to thank her so much for it! I have to say if there is a word to describe this post, it's gotta be cute! Thanks so much for this award, please do check out the blog, it's an amazing collection of stories and recipes =)

Unfortunately I don't have time to pass it on yet, but I will do once I've finished this internship, but for now, if you want some facts from me, check out my last awards post picture for seven random facts.

  8. Wow. That is just pure awesomeness in a little box. I can't get over the checkerboard apple! I would probably never have the stamina to make a bento box myself, but I absolutely love seeing other peoples' creations. Clever and oh-so-cute!
